Topic: Design Thinking for Nonprofit Growth

Presenter: Patti Lind, Co-Founder & Executive Director, The Abilities Fund

In 2000, The Abilities Fund was born as a means to work toward "addressing the need and solving the problem" of the lack of access to the tools necessary to successfully launch and sustain a small business. The organization's mission statement says it all: The Abilities Fund is committed to the economic advancement of people with disabilities and devoted to the fullest expression of their entrepreneurial spirit in all its diversity, strength and boundless originality.

Exciting words? Absolutely!

Easy to find support for such a mission? No problem!

Organizational success? Without question!

Ability to sustain operations? Challenging....

Now, with sixteen years of operation intact, the organization looks and acts decidedly different from the time that the mission was identified and operations commenced.  What changed the organization is a story that identifies with many - actually, most - non profits, regardless of mission.

During the presentation, Design Thinking for Nonprofit Growth, Founder and Executive Director Patti Lind will tell the story - the real story - about how incorporating "Design Thinking" served and saved The Abilities Fund.  Please join in to hear the story of reinvention on a nonprofit basis.
