Driven in part by the State's Medicaid Redesign Team, coupled with the corresponding reform initiatives of DSRIP and Value Based Payments (VBP), OPWDD is moving its system toward a fully integrated Managed Care model, including varying types of payment reforms.

Although this process has been through various incarnations, and is again being redesigned as part of the work of the Transformation Panel, it is clear that the industry will be migrating into Managed Care in the near future.

Providers of service in the ID/DD world need to learn new skills to succeed in a managed care world, many of whom will be engaged with the implementation of managed care for Behavioral Health via the HARP.

As the final design of managed care for developmental disabilities takes shape - the core principles of managed care design are consistent elements of every design. Learning to deliver services of high value in a cost efficient way are critical to thriving in the future.

The session will educate providers on how people with all types of disabilities will engage with the managed care plans. Providers will learn to understand how critical the assessments will be in determining needs for services as well as the documentation which is critical to support services.
