In 2011, Regional Economic Development Councils were created to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth in 10 regions in New York State. Each region has developed comprehensive strategies for regional growth, and the State has awarded over $2.9 billion for job creation and community development projects that will create or retain over 150,000 jobs.
